City Updates

Happy Pride Month! Throughout the month of June, we honor and celebrate the generations of LGBTQ+ individuals who have fought for a more inclusive and equal society. We’ve made many strides toward this goal but we still have a lot of work ahead, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has compounded many of the stressors that many LGBTQ+ youth experience.

Last week, Mayor Caroline Simmons joined city officials and community leaders to raise the Pride flag in front of Government Center in honor of Pride Month.

Mayor Simmons joined Charter Communications CEO Tom Rutledge, Governor Ned Lamont, Charter employees, and state and local community partners to celebrate the opening of the new Charter Communications headquarters. Charter Communications is the second largest cable operator in the United States and the fastest growing television and internet provider in the world.

Since coming to Stamford, Charter has created 1,700 jobs, invested $100 million in this corporate headquarters, and millions in philanthropic efforts to support Stamford nonprofits.
