City Updates

Mayor Caroline Simmons and Director of Economic Development Loren Nadres participated in a roundtable with the Connecticut Restaurant Association that brought together over 40 Stamford restaurant owners. They discussed how restaurants are recovering due to the pandemic and the issues they are still facing as well as how the City can work collaboratively to help the industry and promote Stamford as a great place to start a restaurant.

Mayor Simmons and Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski met with Officer Nicholas Kuhn who helped save the life of a man who was stabbed last weekend. Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Kuhn applied life-saving treatment to the victim before he was transported to Stamford Hospital.
Thank you Officer Kuhn for your service to our City!

In the News

“As we move closer to normalcy, we must not forget everything our students faced in 2020 as schools closed their doors, activities paused, and the social safety net that a school building can be for many children was removed in an effort to keep everyone safe from this deadly virus. We are now more than two years removed from the initial shutdowns. The ramifications of this trauma is real and must be dealt with. It is imperative we pass the much-needed interventions and supports in Senate Bill 1.”
ICYMI: State Senator Pat Billie Miller wrote an op-ed about how we can help our children heal from trauma due to COVID-19. Senate Bill 1, “An Act Concerning Childhood Mental and Physical Health Services in Schools,” provides children with more resources to meet the specific needs of this moment and address existing areas for improvement in mental health in our schools exacerbated by COVID-19.

“Connecticut is truly turning a fiscal corner and our outlook is stronger than it’s been in a generation. But the question now is, how do we keep moving forward? That’s why I’m running for state comptroller.”
ICYMI: State Representative Sean Scanlon wrote an op-ed highlighting why he is running for Comptroller.
