On Wednesday, August 14th, CT NPR uncovered another video from August 3rd of Anabel Figueroa making antisemitic and divisive statements about her opponent Jonathan Jacobson, as well as disparaging statements about the DCC, the party, the demographics of the 148th district, and a litany of current and past lies and grievances.
The DCC Executive Board signed onto the following statement for the article in the Advocate where we once again denounced Figueroa’s comments and demand for her resignation:
“It is undeniably clear that Anabel Figueroa’s hate-filled and divisive language and behavior is a pattern. Serving in elected office is a privilege, and Anabel Figueroa has demonstrated she is unworthy of serving in any elected capacity. We demand that Anabel Figueroa resign her seats on the Stamford Democratic City Committee, Board of Representatives, and as State Representative.”
Here is the video and below are some of the translated statements:
“He [Jonathan Jacobson] is a man that comes from the Jewish community, a community that is obviously starting to gain a lot of power in Stamford and it starts with the Mayor.”
“I say this with respect. I think if this person were running to represent people from their community or if they were mixed, I think I would respect it. But in my community, we don’t have people like him, from his community,”
“We’re mixed, we have a large Hispanic population, but I also have a lot of African Americans in the community that are with me, because they know, who better to represent us than someone within the same minority? But a Jewish person? Never.”
Once again, this shameful behavior not only demonstrates a lack of integrity and character but makes Anabel Figueroa unfit to serve in office. We urge our fellow Democrats to join in demanding that she resign immediately from all three elected positions.
