Caroline Simmons Responds to Attack from Bobby Valentine

October 15, 2021

In response to recent negative attacks on Caroline Simmons’ childhood by Bobby Valentine, Caroline Simmons released the following statement:

“Bobby Valentine is attacking me for where I lived as a child. As a child. Enough.

I chose to live here in Stamford. After graduating college, and leaving only to serve my country at the Department of Homeland Security, where I assisted in domestic and international counterterrorism, I returned home to Connecticut and chose to live in Stamford. I also chose to run for office and serve the people of our city as a State Representative for the past 7 years. This is my home, it’s where my husband and I are now raising our children.

I’m not the only one that has chosen Stamford. There are people from all around this state, this country, and this world who have chosen to live here. People from all different socioeconomic backgrounds, from different racial and ethnic backgrounds — all who chose to live in Stamford. We should welcome them, not create the division that Bobby is trying to sow.

Stamford should value the many people who chose our community, just as we do those who’ve lived here their entire lives. We should value all our community members and their contributions because they care about this city. I’m running to be Mayor of all Stamford’s residents, and to work hard on their behalf, whether they were born here or not.”
