Stamford Democrats Weekly Roundup!

Stay Informed!

As the Trump administration takes office, a lot of us might feel the urge to take a break from the news (or already have). Protecting your mental health is important, but so is staying informed and involved in what’s happening locally, statewide, and nationally. Navigating today’s media landscape — dominated by AI, unchecked social media, and misinformation — can be challenging. To help, we have put together a list of news and opinion sources we recommend checking out:

Former State Representative Rachel Khanna has launched a newsletter to use her experience to share insights and updates about what’s happening in Stamford, Greenwich, and around Connecticut. Click here to subscribe to her newsletter.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will take place at Bethel AME Church (150 Fairfield Avenue) on Monday, January 20, starting with a rally at 10:00 am and a march at 11:00 am. Given the impending snow, we will share any changes to this schedule on our social media pages.

Democracy in Action – Volunteer Activity

It is always important for our elected officials to hear from us, especially now with the change in administration. Call Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Chris Murphy today to share your thoughts about Trump’s cabinet nominees!

  • Senator Blumenthal’s Washington D.C. Office: (202)-224-2823
  • Senator Murphy’s Washington D.C. Office: (202)-224-4041

President Joe Biden’s Farewell Address

“History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands. We just have to keep the faith and remember who we are. We are the United States of America, and there is simply nothing beyond our capacity when we do it together.”

On Wednesday, January 15, President Joe Biden gave his farewell address. Click here to watch the full speech and click here to read his letter to the nation and to learn more about the Biden-Harris administration’s record.

Thank you President Biden and Vice President Harris for your many years of service to the nation.
